At the CPU board level, the Sun M5000 holds up to eight 2.1GHz SPARC64 VI dual-core processors with SPARC V9 architecture. The M5000 is also a RAM powerhouse, featuring as many as eight memory boards with the ability to utilize up to 256GB of system memory. As with all Sun Servers the M5000 is extremely reliable for all types of usage.

The 8-way Sun M5000 supports the dual-core Sun SPARC64 VI and quad-core SPARC64 VII processors, which hold 5 megabytes of Level 2 cache.
